With deep ancestral ties to the African Nova Scotian community of Truro and over 17 years of experience in youth engagement and advocacy, Vanessa Smithers established her storytelling consultancy in 2017 with the conviction that ‘everything is a story.’
Throughout her career, Vanessa assists individuals and organizations in developing youth engagement strategies through an anti-Black racism lens, offering career coaching, document preparation, grant writing, workshop facilitation, and keynote speaking. Passionate about fostering community connections and cultivating spaces for self-discovery, Vanessa has supported over 2000 individuals globally, with 95% of her clients coming from under-served and marginalized communities.
